President Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned from Britain following his attendance of King Charles's appointment on Wednesday.
However, there is a prevailing disagreement regarding the significance of his visit.
In an interview with journalists at the Robert Mugabe International Airport, Mr. Mnagagwa stated that he had met with British government officials and observed a willingness to collaborate with Zimbabwe.
He also mentioned that the Commonwealth is displaying a positive outlook.
However, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Assembly, Mrs. Patricia Scotland, disclosed on her Twitter account that she had discussed various issues with Mr. Mnangagwa, including Zimbabwe's desire to rejoin the organization.
She emphasized that Zimbabwe must abide by the Commonwealth's terms before being reinstated as a member.
Human rights advocates have criticized the imprisonment of Zengeza West representative, Mr. Job Sikhala, and Transform Zimbabwe leader, Mr. Jacob Ngarivhume, arguing that it indicates a lack of progress in Zimbabwe.
While Mr. Mnangagwa held a meeting with former British President Tony Blair, other African leaders, such as Mr. Hakainde Hichilema from Zambia and Mr. Paul Kagame from Rwanda, had the opportunity to meet with British Prime Minister Mr. Rishi Sunak.
Political expert Mr. Freddy Mutenheri emphasizes the need for Zimbabwe to take responsibility for addressing human rights concerns and foster cooperation with other countries.
