The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, ZEC says that more than 6 million people have registered to vote all over the country, and it is hoping to travel to remote areas to give a chance to those who want to register as voters.
Under the law, people who will qualify to vote this year are those who have registered two days before the announcement of the voting day by the president.
ZEC spokesperson Mr Jasper Mangwana told the media that more than six million people have registered to vote so far.
Mr Mangwana says his department will travel to people in areas far away from where they are currently registering to vote.
He said that currently 73 places are being registered in large and small regions.
The head of ZEC in the Mashonaland West region Mr Austin Ndlovu also says that more than 727,000 people have registered to vote from 1 June 2022 to now compared to the past.
Mr Ndlovu says that this increase in number was due to people who recently acquired identity cards which are being freely issued in areas where they live.
He also said that when they went around registering people to vote, few registered as they did not have identification cards.
One of the things that makes it easier for people to register to vote is providing free transport to local by politicians.
Another person who was helped to get a birth certificate, and identity card and to register as a voter in Chinhoyi is Mr Munashe Chivawaya from Makonde.
Mr Chavavaya, who refused to name his party, says he is happy that even if the elections are over, he will still have the identity documents that he did not have.
Mr Ndlovu says there is nothing wrong with people getting help with transportation to register to vote from politicians.
In the elections held in the year 2018, 5,695,706 people were registered to vote.
ZEC says people can check if they are registered to vote by dialling *265# on any mobile phone.
