Citizens Coalition for Change is accusing Zanu-PF of committing violence in Matobo in Matabeleland South today.
It is said that many people, including the member of parliament representing Nkulumane, Ucaca Phulu of the CCC, were injured in the violence.
CCC supporters were looking for support in Ward 2 where by-elections will be held. Some women are said to have had their clothes ripped off and cars pelted with stones. Some people are said to be unknown where they are.
We could not hear the Zanu-PF side as the party's spokesperson Mr Chris Mutsvangwa told the media that he had just entered the country from Mozambique and asked us to contact the head of the information department, Mr Tafadzwa Mugwadi, who was not answering his phone.
Mr Mugwadi once told the media that CCC has a habit of deploying people dressed in Zanu-PF regalia to cause riots so that Zanu-PF could be blamed.
But the deputy spokesperson of the CCC, Mr Ostallos Siziba, has rejected this statement, saying that Zanu-PF has already brought people from other regions to commit violence.
The election is on October 22nd. The contestants are Mr Liberty Nyirongo of ZAPU, Mr Frederick Siwela of Zanu-PF and Mr Sindiso Ngwenya of CCC.
