The presidents of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, and Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa |
The purpose of this two-day meeting was to talk about forest protection in the countries under the SADC alliance, and their protection, and to find ways to improve natural resources in these countries.
Mr Mnangagwa is also expected to hold talks with the president of Mozambique, Mr Phillipe Nyusi, on other issues affecting their countries, especially the issue of Zimbabwe buying electricity from Mozambique.
Zim News Daily was unable to hear the government's side of the story, but the Ministry of Communications has announced on its Twitter account that Mr Mnagagwa arrived safely in Mozambique, and attended the meeting.
A political expert, teaching at the Tshwane University of Technology, Professor Ricky Munyaradzi Mkonza, said that Zimbabwe and Mozambique have a history of good relations that goes back to the days of the Chimurenga war, but he does not see anything coming out of the electricity issue.
